Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: Do I have to be online all the time?

Answer: Yes you do. The system needs a constant flow of information between you and our servers to record your data.

Question 2: Where do I get the App for the i-Phone?

Answer: There is no App for the i-Phone. You can add it to your home screen using these instructions.

Question 3: Can more than one person use my account?

Answer: Definitely not, all accounts are for personal use only. When you set up an account your username and password must be kept safe and should not be shared amongst your colleagues and friends. Failure to adhere to these instructions, may result in your account being suspended.

Question 4: What do I do if I think that a question is incorrect, confusing or I am not sure the answer is as shown?

Answer: You need to place a question on our Forum atpforum.eu so that our Subject Matter Experts can advise you directly. Tech Support are not Subject Matter Experts and therefore will not be able to answer questions directly concerning content.

Question 5: What is the difference between version 2 and version 3 of the database?

Answer: Version 2 contains the questions for CQB13. Version 3 contains the questions for CQB14.

Question 6: Which database do I use to study from?

Answer: All students should study from BOTH v2 AND v3 if you have the time, starting with v2.You will note that there are no V3 questions for Air Law, Mass and Balance, VFR Comms and IFR Comms.

Question 7: What is CQB 15 and when will it be incorporated into our database?

Answer: As far as we're aware, CQB15 is in effect CQB14 with many of the gross errors corrected; the major reason why the UK hasn't used CQB14 is that they felt it contained far too many inaccurate questions etc. For the past 18 months, in the light of all the feedback we've received, we've been making subtle adjustments to the bad questions and answers in CQB14, so we hope that when CQB15 is used in the exams, you will not get many surprises. Of course, the proof will come when the first students face CQB15.

Question 8: How do I change my password or reset it if I have forgotten it?

Answer: If you forget or wish to change your password, please use the ‘Forgot Your Password?’ option below the 'Login' button and enter the email address you supplied during your signup. Please be aware there is currently no facility for you to change your username, however, if you send us an email, we can do this for you.

Question 9: What is the best way for me to study?

Answer: How you study is down to personal choice. However, through experience of chatting to students, we have offered you a number of options to select from. If you are using the database for the first time, we recommend using the practice exam containing a variable number of exam questions (2nd option). Select the number of questions and go through the exam making sure that if you see a question that you are not sure about, the 'flag this question' box is ticked. Make sure also that the 'only show unseen questions box' is ticked and you will notice that the number of available questions reduce as you go through more exams. Eventually you will have seen all the questions when the number of available questions becomes zero.

All the questions that you have either got wrong or flagged as problems are now included in the problems questions section for you to review. Those questions that you have either got right and are not considered problems to you, do not need to be taken again - ultimately saving you study time.

Question 10: When I reach the end of my subscription, do I have to create a new account to continue?

Answer: No, when you reach the end of your subscription, the next time you log in, you will be asked if you want to resubscribe and for what length of time. You do not need to worry about everything you have done so far as all the data is saved on our servers for 6 months after your subscription has expired and you can carry on where you left off.

Question 11: I seem to be having problems logging in at work but not at home, what should I do?

Answer: The main reason why this is the case is that your work internet is probably blocking the site. If you speak to your system administrator, they may be able to amend your account to allow access. Unfortunately, we have no control over this, so will not be able to speak to anyone on your behalf!

Question 12: Can I have a refund if I am not happy with the database?

Answer: All requests for refunds will be addressed on a case by case basis. However, we feel our record on customer service is second to none and we will always treat requests sympathetically. If a refund is requested and granted, it will be done on a pro-rata basis depending upon how long the account has been in use and how many days are remaining.

Question 13: Can I print out the questions for use off line?

Answer: Unfortunately not, the database is secure and you cannot do this.

Question 14: Can I take all the questions in 1 subject in one attempt?

Answer: No you cannot do this. You can take a practice exam up to 100 questions or you can use the sequential option for up to 200 questions at a time. Experience has shown us that limiting the number of questions allows the system to function more efficiently and students are better protected if their internet goes down for any reason.

Question 15: Can I change my email address?

Answer: No, you cannot, however, if you send us an email, we will do it for you.

Question 16: Do all the questions have Learning Objectives assigned to them?

Answer: All the questions apart from about 7 or 8 have been assigned LOs (we do not have the LOs for the ones that haven’t). Please be aware that the LOs set by the JAA are not 100% accurate (although very close) and we have no control over this. It is best to use the LO function together with the search function to get the questions you need.

Question 17: How does the graph work?

Answer: The system saves any test that you do that has a minimum of 20 questions. If you come out of a quiz part way through, the system will assume that you have got the unanswered questions wrong and the score will be recorded. However, any questions that have not been attempted will still be considered as 'unseen' by the system. At the end of the test, you can name the test as you wish. The default setting is the 3 letter abbreviation for the subject and the date.

Question 18: When and how long are the ATPL exams?

Answer: The exams take place over a 4 days period and can be found in Section J JAR-FCL Theory Exams. The details of the timings of the ATPL (A)/(H) exams can be found on page 5 of the document and CPL (A)/(H) on page 6.

Question 19: What do I do if the website goes down for a significant period of time?

Answer: Our website is now monitored throughout the world and any drop in performance is now notified to us immediately. If it is not something we can fix immediately, we will place a note on our Forum and give you an estimated time for it to be fixed. Clearly we would like zero down time, but sometimes servers do go down and we want to assure you that we will always try to get the problem fixed and back working again as soon as possible.

Question 20: When do you make changes to the website and the server?

Answer: General changes to the content of our website take place regularly and you should not notice any down time at all as these changes are uploaded. However, major Windows Server updates need to occur occasionally and these will always take place on the second Wednesday of every month between 0600 and 0700 GMT. These essential updates could mean that the site may be unavailable during this period.

Question 21: Why are the problem questions now separated by Para and Subpara?

Answer: At the request of several users, the problem questions are now categorized by Learning Objective. All the problem questions are still there but now separated out. You can still select these questions either individually (Cntrl + click on each question) or by a random selection using the dropdown list.
